David Balilty is a multidisciplinary artist and musician whose art and music harmonize. Balilty's works refer to a wide range of styles and artistic traditions - from Abstract Expressionism and Action Paintings, figurative collages, to his latest works which evoke elements of Naive Art and Cubism. The strong influence of music is present in all of Balility's visual works. As a talented Jazz musician, Balilty inserts his natural musical rhythm into his paintings, creating a combination of colors and movement, forms and sound; his music is part of his paintings and vice versa.

Balilty translates music into paintings, preserving the musical qualities in the materialistic technique. His works expose, consciously and unconsciously, his inner world, fears and hopes. He deals mainly with the elusive concept of fame and success, and the instability of life. Unlike his music, Balilty’s painting process is very spontaneous and arises from solitude. On the one hand, Balilty’s expressional works are very personal and domestic, however, they reflect shared concerns and common emotions.

Balilty’s works can be viewed in two opposite manners. The first relates to his varied and rich influences and references to art history, suggesting a contemporary dialogue with well-known artistic traditions. The scond is a personal and intuitive work, that reveals his deepest thoughts and emotions. The combination of a familiar artistic language and personal exploration creates an opportunity for the spectators to reflect upon themselves, feeling less alone in the personal process.

Balility’s works are a visual representation of music, the human mind and soul. Biography: Davis Balilty (B. 1971, Jerusalem), is an artist and musician that lives and works in Tel Aviv and London.
